Hans Pfleiderer è regista e ingegnere. Ha studiato architettura presso l'Università Tecnica di Berlino MFA. Ha lavorato come scenografo e lighting designer con Eric Veensta degli Art Lab Studios di Berlino. Ha completato un MFA in Scenografia all'American Film Institute e ha assistito il leggendario scenografo Robert Boyle. Come consulente visivo ha lavorato per il documentario The Man on Lincolns Nose, candidato all'Oscar nel 2001. Ha progettato il Broadcast Studio per Earthship.TV di James Cameron, i lungometraggi LA Twister, A House on a Hill e molti altri. È stato designer degli effetti visivi e in parte supervisore di Minority Report, Panic Room e diversi spot pubblicitari e video musicali. Attualmente lavora come Project Manager e in varie altre cariche per ARRI. Nel 2018 ha fondato la sua società di produzione tedesca la Hans Pfleiderer Engineering. Come regista ha appena finito di dirigere Moonwatcher: A Personal Odyssey su Dan Richter, meglio conosciuto per il suo lavoro con Stanley Kubrick come coreografo e protagonista nella leggendaria scena di apertura di 2001: Odissea nello spazio (1968). Sir Arthur C. Clarke, autore di 2001 disse di lui: «Dan è l'attore sconosciuto più famoso del mondo».

Hans Pfleiderer is a filmmaker and engineer. He studied architecture at the Technical University Berlin with a diploma. He worked as a stage and lighting designer with Eric Veenstra from ArtLab Studios Berlin. He completed a Master program in Production Design at the American Film Institute and assisted legendary production designer Robert Boyle. As a visual consultant, he worked for the documentary The Man on Lincoln’s Nose, which was nominated for an Oscar in the category Documentary Shorts in 2001. He designed the Broadcast Studio for James Cameron's Earthship.TV, the feature films L.A. Twister, A House on a Hill, and many more. He was Visual Effects Designer and creator of digital storyboards on Minority Report, Panic Room and Supervisor on commercials and music videos. He worked as a project manager and in various other functions for ARRI designing broadcast lighting systems. In 2018 he founded his German production company Hans Pfleiderer Engineering. As a director, he recently completed the feature documentary Moonwatcher: A Personal Odyssey about Dan Richter, best known for his work with Stanley Kubrick as choreographer and star in the legendary opening scene of 2001: A Space Odyssey released in 1968. Sir Arthur C. Clarke, author of 2001 said about him: «Dan is the most famous unknown actor in the world».

«The most famous unknown actor in the world», ovvero il più famoso attore sconosciuto del mondo: con queste parole Sir Arthur C. Clarke, autore di The Sentinel, da cui Stanley Kubrick trasse il suo 2001: Odissea nello spazio (2001: A Space Odyssey,1968), riassumeva la carriera di Daniel “Dan” Richter (Darien, Connecticut 1939), attore, mimo e fotografo statunitense (figlio del noto fumettista per «The New Yorker» Mischa Richter), passato alla storia del cinema con la sua interpretazione dell’uomo-scimmia nel capolavoro di Kubrick, per la sequenza de L’alba dell’uomo dove interpreta Guarda-La-Luna, la scimmia leader (nell’originale: Moonwatcher). Dopo l’esperienza cinematografica Richter diventa uno dei migliori amici di Yoko Ono e John Lennon: per l’esattezza tra il 1969 e il 1973, divenne il loro fotografo ufficiale (sue le foto di varie copertine degli album di quel periodo), comparendo e collaborando tra l’altro anche in Imagine, documentario del 1972, diretto da Lennon e Ono (e Steve Gebhardt).

«The most famous unknown actor in the world»: with these words Sir Arthur C. Clarke, author of The Sentinel from which Stanley Kubrick drew his 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), summed up the career of Daniel "Dan" Richter (Darien, Connecticut 1939), American actor, mime and photographer (son of the well-known cartoonist for «The New Yorker» Mischa Richter), who went down in cinema history with his interpretation of man-ape in Kubrick’s masterpiece, for The Dawn of Man sequence, where he played Moonwatcher, the leading monkey. After the film experience Richter becomes one of the best friends of Yoko Ono and John Lennon: to be exact between 1969 and 1973, he became their official photographer (his photos of various album covers of that period), appearing and collaborating among the other also in Imagine, a 1972 documentary, directed by Lennon and Ono (and Steve Gebhardt).
