Nicolaj Brüel, nasce a Copenaghen il 19 agosto 1965: anche suo padre Dirk è un cinematographer. Laureatosi alla National Danish Film School nel 1991, da allora ha lavorato con alcuni dei migliori registi al mondo in spot pubblicitari. Ha ottenuto il successo internazionale con il film The Machine (2013) di Caradog W. James e nel 2018 la consacrazione definitiva grazie al suo magnifico lavoro in Dogman (2018) di Matteo Garrone, con cui ha vinto il David di Donatello per la migliore fotografia. Nel 2019, sempre per Garrone ha illuminato Pinocchio.

Nicolaj Brüel, was born in Copenhagen on 19 August 1965: his father Dirk is also a cinematographer. After graduating from the National Danish Film School in 1991, he has worked with some of the best directors in the world on commercials. He achieved international success with the film The Machine (2013) by Caradog W. James and in 2018 the definitive consecration thanks to his work in Dogman (2018) by Matteo Garrone, with which he won the David di Donatello for Best Cinematography. In 2019 always for Garrone he illuminated Pinocchio.
